When summarizing, follow these key steps to help you clairfy and remember what you have read/learned…

  • Identify the important points or essential details
  • Condense this information into a shorter form using complete sentences to formulate complete thoughts
  • Use your own words

Freak the Mighty – Robot Body

Filed under: Uncategorized — readingclass @ 11:04 am

Freak tells Max about a “special operation” that is being planned in the Special Bionics Unit in the hospital that will give him a robot body so his body will be the same as everyone else.  In Chapter 21 Freak says, “The bionic research continues, my friend.  The work goes on.”

1.  Why does Freak continue to tell Max this story?

2.  How would you feel if a friend was telling you this story?

3.  Would you believe them? Why or why not?

Welcome to Reading & Research Exploratory!

Filed under: Uncategorized — readingclass @ 11:55 am

Welcome to Reading & Research Exploratory!  My name is Mrs. Diann Oswald and I will be your teacher for this semester.  This is my third year as the Librarian for Bellevue Community Schools and my 15th year in the field of education.  I live in Dubuque with my husband Shane and our two sons; Spencer is a senior at Hempstead and Connor is freshman at Hempstead.  I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, and of course…reading!  Your first assignment will be to post a blog here so we can get to know you better.  Tell us about yourself…include such things as your family, your hobbies, and what you did over summer vacation.
